Privacy Policy
Effective: 8 May 2026 · Last updated: 8 May 2026
This policy explains how ROOST handles your personal information. Plain English. We've kept it short.
Who we are
ROOST is operated by Danny Stone, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@joinroost.co.uk.
What we collect
You give us:
- Email address — when you complete the quiz and unlock your dashboard.
- Home information — postcode (outward code only), property type, bedrooms, ownership status, whether you have a spare room, driveway, or storage space.
- Bill information — providers, amounts, renewal dates, tariff names, and similar details for bills you choose to add.
- Council tax band — if you choose to enter it.
We collect automatically:
- Anonymous usage data via Plausible Analytics (cookieless) — pages visited, custom events like "quiz started" or "outbound click."
- Session recordings via Microsoft Clarity — anonymised mouse movement, clicks, and scroll behaviour so we can improve the product. No keystroke recording in form fields.
What we don't collect
- Bank account numbers or credit card details — we never ask.
- Your full name, phone number, date of birth, or address (other than postcode area).
- Browsing history outside ROOST.
Why we collect it (legal basis)
- To provide the service — your home and bill data is used to give you tailored estimates, comparisons, and reminders. Legal basis: contract.
- To send renewal reminders — based on dates you've entered. Legal basis: consent (you opt in via the email gate).
- To improve ROOST — anonymous usage analytics and session recordings. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
Who we share it with
We share nothing identifiable with comparison or earning partners. When you click a "Compare on Uswitch" or "List on JustPark" link, you go to that partner's site directly — they don't receive your bill data, your email, or anything you've entered into ROOST. They may earn ROOST a commission if you transact, but the commission is anonymous to them.
Service providers we use:
- Netlify — hosting (UK/EU servers)
- Supabase — database and authentication (EU servers)
- Resend — email delivery for renewal reminders
- Plausible Analytics — cookieless analytics (EU servers)
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymous session recordings
How long we keep it
- Account data — until you delete your account. We aim to delete within 30 days of a deletion request.
- Anonymous analytics — Plausible aggregates after 24 months; Clarity sessions retained for 90 days.
- Email records — Resend retains delivery logs for 30 days; we hold reminder content as long as you keep the underlying bill.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of everything we hold on you.
- Correction — fix anything that's wrong (you can do most of this yourself in the app).
- Deletion — ask us to delete your account and all associated data.
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from emails any time via the link in any email, or by emailing us.
- Object — to processing based on legitimate interests (analytics, session recordings).
To exercise any of these, email privacy@joinroost.co.uk. We'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

We'll let you know about meaningful changes via email or a banner on the site. The "Last updated" date above shows the most recent revision.
