Cookies & Tracking

Effective: 8 May 2026 · Last updated: 8 May 2026

Short version: ROOST uses cookieless analytics (Plausible) and an anonymous session-replay tool (Microsoft Clarity). We don't use advertising cookies. We don't sell or share data with advertisers. Browser local storage is used to keep your dashboard state on your device.

What we use

ToolWhat it doesStores cookies?Personal data?
Plausible Analytics Counts page views and custom events (quiz completions, outbound clicks). Aggregates only — no individual user profiles. No — uses no cookies No — fully anonymous
Microsoft Clarity Records anonymised session interactions (mouse movement, clicks, scrolling) so we can spot UX problems. Yes — first-party cookies for session continuity (max 24 hours). Anonymised. Form field content is masked by default — we don't see what you type.
Browser local storage Stores your dashboard state on your device only — your bills, score, postcode, etc. — so you don't lose progress between visits. Local storage isn't a cookie, but worth disclosing. Yes — but stored on your device only, not sent anywhere.
Tally (feedback button) Loads the feedback form when you click "Give feedback." Set by Tally only when you click their form. Only what you choose to type into the form.

What we don't use

Affiliate links

When you click an outbound link to a partner (Uswitch, Compare the Market, JustPark, etc.) you leave ROOST. The partner may set their own cookies on their own site according to their own cookie policy. We never share your data with those partners.
